Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said his team was working with US counterparts to coordinate with Donald Trump’s administration, after the US president suggested earlier on Friday he would be willing to meet.
In a post to Telegram, Zelensky said that he valued cooperation with Trump and that Ukrainian and American teams are working out details. Separately, Zelensky said in an interview that he was willing to make a deal to secure more US backing in exchange for some of Ukraine’s rare earths and other minerals.
Trump, meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Friday, was asked by a reporter if he would help coordinate a meeting between Zelensky and US Vice-President J.D. Vance, who is travelling to Europe for summits in Paris and Munich next week.
Trump seemed to mishear the question, and responded by saying that he himself “will probably be meeting with President Zelensky next week”.
“One of the things we’re looking at with President Zelensky is having the security of their assets,” he continued. “They have assets underground, rare earth and other things but primarily rare earth.”
Good thing the Art of the Deal shlemiel is in charge of the thing now, nein?

It was always going to end with an alignment to a greater power. They’ve managed something incredibly difficult and could have possibly caused the fall of the Russian Federation as it stands, but it’s plain to see they can not go it alone in the long term.
There was literally never any chance that Ukraine was going to cause the fall of the RF. That’s absolute cope. The USA, through NATO, was attempting to boil the frog (Russia) and Russia appeased the US for 20 years before reacting to Euromaidan by annexing Crimea. The US decided to call Russia’s bluff and continue developing NATO’s position in Ukraine for the subsequent 8 years and Russia warned and warned and finally attacked to disrupt the process. Russia successfully disrupted the process. The USA’s goal was to deploy it nuclear capabilities and requisite logistics to Russia’s most vulnerable border. Ukraine had no goals of harming Russia, only pleasing Western masters so they could be let into the imperialist club and their oligarchs could benefit economically and politically.
The greatest risks to Russia after they launched the SMO were 1) allocating too many forces to the front, leaving them vulnerable to attacks from the West in other locations, 2) exposing too much of their capabilities and capacities to Western intelligence, and 3) being unable to handle the activation of potential long-term sleeper cells cultivated by the West.
There was never a risk that Ukraine itself would collapse the RF.
Seems like there’s an important player missing from these talks…
ukraine is a sovereign democracy, it cant enter into talks without the permission of its owner

According to that source, the USA has sent the most military aid with Europe sending primarily financial aid, which the Ukrainian government needed to pay its bills. It would be interesting to see how much of that European aid actually went directly to the US MIC
Also, how much of it was embezzled along the way.

From what I’ve read the spiel here is to sell the rare earth minerals to US companies - or literally just Tesla. Since they are predominantly in Russian occupied territories, it would lock the US into supporting the defense.
You also noticed he’s suddenly talking about securing rare earths every day now? I’m hoping someone asks him why they’re so important because he clearly doesn’t know what they are, and is just following orders from Twitler.
The fact that grabbing Ukrainian resources was an objective for the west isn’t news. This has been publicly admitted by numerous officials since the war started.
