Have to say, the funky colors of that keyboard are actually pretty practical. Contrast that with most modern keyboards where every key is just black.
Sure, black looks cool, and it works too as long as the layout is normal. It’s jsut that I’ve used a laptop where the arrow keys were squeezed into a really odd place, and I can never find them with muscle memory alone. I have to look every time, so having some extra color would have been very helpful.
That’s why using a mechanical keyboard today and swapping out keycaps is great.
Absolutely! It’s just that the keyboards that have a funky layout tend to be weird laptop keyboards. I have a few Ducky Shine keyboards that do have swappable caps, but they also have a good standard layout that doesn’t require me to mess around with the caps at all.
So far, I haven’t felt it necessary to get a proper desktop keyboard that also has an unusual layout. If that ever happens, getting orange arrow keys would be high on my list.
I’ve basically swapped to just using external keyboards even for laptops. Laptop keyboards aren’t as durable anymore. I had to get mine repaired on my heavy duty one. I’m past warranty now so I’d rather not risk it.
This is what my portable set up looks like. (Bonus watch in the picture)
Love the orange-grey aesthetic. Also, the watch looks like it was designed by Compaq in 1994. 😄
Not too far off. It was made in 1999 to mimic the look of the 80s https://www.seiko-design.com/en/museum-en/vol8-en/
I fucking love this shit. Such a good photo
I see Geneva, I upvote.
