Nvidia RTX 40-series GPU owners continue to face system stability issues, with reports of blue screen crashes (BSODs), system instability, and game-breaking bugs. While many users have been frustrated by these problems, Nvidia’s apparent primary focus on its new RTX 50-series cards has only added to their concerns. Now, a new issue has surfaced (via Overclock3D) that may be directly linked, where PC game developers are actively warning users against installing the latest 572.xx GeForce drivers, due to performance and stability issues.

Players using RTX 40 and even some RTX 30-series GPUs have reported problems after updating to the 572.xx driver. Newly released games, including inZOI and The First Berserker: Khazan, have been particularly affected, with players experiencing stuttering or frame drops. Developers of these games have gone as far as recommending users roll back to the older 566.36 driver, released in December 2024, to restore stability. The problem has been widely discussed across Reddit and various forums, with many pointing fingers at the latest Nvidia driver branch as the common denominator.

lol if this happens to me it will be the straw that pushes me to uninstall Nvidia’s app and go back to manual driver installs

Ah clever strategy, introduce an update that makes previous generations run worse, so people would feel compelled to buy the newer ones!

Sounds like someone who hasn’t used AMD in a while… VR works fine since a couple of years already , and RT sure, is a bit behind (specially on Nvidia showcases… Shocker those run better on Nvidia), but RDNA4 has been a significant upgrade… And even then RT is still a Gimmick showcase that only looks amazing using real PT that not even the $2000+ card can run properly.

It was an issue last year, wasn’t sure that it was ever resolved. I know VR performance was poor in reviews for the latest cards as well. Well poor when compared to a similarly priced NVidia card with SPS.

Path tracing is amazing in Cyberpunk and Indiana Jones. It’s sooo much better than without. Can never go back at this point

Yes you can, just play other stuff… Just this year I’ve played and completed 10 games, including new games like FF7 Rebirth, and guess what? You can have fun with non RT lighting.

Like I said, PT is amazing, but if you need a $2000 GPU to experience it (and still have to rely on upscaling and FG to have a playable experience), maybe it’s just isn’t ready, it’s still a tech demo.

Hell Indiana Jones non PT Ray Tracing still looks great and can be ran on reasonable hardware, a 3060 can do 60fps average on native 1080p at high settings, that’s reasonable. A 5090 can do 40fps at 4K using PT, no DLSS…

sure sure DLSS and all that… The native performance is still what dictates the end result… I’m not paying $2K to get 40fps… RT is great on paper for devs, but CLEARLY devs are still having issues with it and the hardware isn’t there yet.

But clearly you’re probably an Nvidia fanboy so there’s no changing your mind.

Oh interesting there was also a botched Nvidia update on OpenSuse recently that sunk my battleship.
