Daiso had both alkaline and traditional carbon-zinc batteries in this size. I chose the latter because it’s for a 1960s device and I think that was the default battery chemistry in the era, plus modern alkaline batteries seem very prone to leaking when left alone for 10 years.

    Was honestly surprised they still sell them. Got a nice boom box a few months back, still need to fix the cassette players but the radio works fine.

      I got 6 rechargable D cells for a flashlight that broke shortly after. Now I have no use for them, I just top them up yearly.

        1 rechargeable cost as much as the 8 disposables I needed and I also have nothing else that uses them.
