I’m not even sure if this is implemented, but I would like to ban a user from my community. They are not a local account, they’re on a federated Lemmy instance. Is this something I can do as a moderator, and if so, how do I do it?

They have only commented and don’t seem to be a subscriber.

Related topic: Having to click through page after page to find a subscriber in the subscriber list is clunky as hell. I’d like to see a search feature there.

Rimu has now added the option to ban users via the drop-down menu next to their comment.

It’s maybe not a good idea to make it too easy to ban people who haven’t created any content, as it’s the kind of thing that often causes a lot of boring fedi-drama. Though I realise that there still might be other reasons why mods might want to search through the subscriber list.

        I can see a scenario:

        • troll1@trollinstance posting in trollinginstance/c/raids: “Hey, let’s raid these losers over otherinstance/c/safespace”
        • troll2@trollinstance “Hell yeah!”

I could see admins at /c/safespace wanting to preemptively ban them.
