TLDW: Foxhole allows the environment to change in ways other games don’t (snow causing direct death, visibility problems, rain causing mud which slows units down etc. ), and also providing options for dealing with these environmental concerns, gives off a realistic war feeling. This in combination with the fact that foxhole allows and requires players to participate in all aspects of fighting a war (material extraction, weapon manufacturing, transport manufacturing, transportation, building of defenses, actual fighting), help provide a feeling of participating in a war that other milsims don’t show.

Admittedly, I feel like this game doesn’t satisfy what people are looking for in a milsim. Foxhole is a top down shooter, while most milsims are over the shoulder 3rd person or 1st person with a huge focus on tactics and execution. Foxhole seems to pull out a bit more, still allowing tactics planning and execution, but overal strategy and logistics are also added into the game.

That actually seems like a plus to me, but I’m weird. Thanks for the breakdown.

I know I definitely would have been more interested in Foxhole if it was first person, but maybe I’m missing out.

Yeah he’s just talking about mud having an actual effect. Though right now mud in foxhole is just “avoid the puddles”, it used to be that you’d get muddy almost everywhere so it’s way less painful since the weather rework. Weather doesn’t happen very often though, the worst storm I can remember was a snowstorm that covered maybe 6 hexes for most of a week and most storms are either very light or only last a day or two

Perhaps it’s not actually a trend, but I feel like I’m seeing tons of YouTubers holding microphones that should clearly be mounted on a stand or at least on a desk - and it drives me crazy. It’s not like holding it makes it sound better than mounting it! Just invest in a mic stand!

Thank you for this video! Definitely going to give it a watch.

I try not to let my distaste for microphone holding turn me off of every new (to me) YouTuber I discover that does it but it definitely hangs around in the back of my head when I watch them.

The only one who doesn’t bother me is Josh Strife Hayes who puts it in a mug which I think seems at least mildly subversive

I hate it when they use a lavalier mic and hold it on their hand or tape it to the front of their shirt, leaving the wire hanging…

They’re supposed to be made to be invisible or not noticeable, that’s the whole point! Either clip it on your shirt’s neck, or use a regular mic goddamit!
