No adhesives needed! I’ve not come across a cat tree that used any as of yet for the twine they come with. The twine is simply stapled on just at the very beginning and end*, and then pulled taut as you wrap it. The twine is quite rough and doesn’t unravel easily, so it’s not frustrating to do. I don’t have a strong enough staple gun, so I used cable run nail downs and abused them by pounding them flat. Something you’d never do with Ethernet cable :P Hopefully!
So many questions! Where did you get the twine, and how do you adhere it to the wood are my first two.
