This previous Saturday, I decided to try out my new battery powered 8" mini chainsaw. I was very stupid, and ended up holding a branch that was too small to stabilize it so it could cut it off. Of course, the saw bounced and hit the hand holding the branch.

I got two 1-2mm deep chunks taken out of my index finger knuckle, and a deep flap cut into my thumb. The weirdest thing was that it really didn’t hurt; I was just annoyed that blood was everywhere.

Here I am nearly 4 days out, and my thumb is almost completely healed, and the deepest cut on my knuckle is only like 2 days from being completely healed over. The only part of the whole process that hurt was putting pressure on everything immediately after cleaning it, and putting the liquid bandage on my knuckle (it’s acetone based).

I’m actually slightly concerned about my pain threshold, because I cut open my shin on a server rail yesterday and it really didn’t hurt either.

I have read about people with a condition (couldn’t tell you what) that didn’t have a normal pain response. The message was that they lived shorter lives, on average, because of the lack of response to dangerous injuries. I wish I could better explain. You might want to look into it or discuss with a physician.

Are you quite flexible, and do your injuries heal without much scarring?

Because there are a few things that may cause that

I have an absurd pain threshold. It almost killed me because a massive problem was just annoying to me. The docs were amazed that I wasn’t screaming, and because I was pretty chilled about things, they didn’t realise that I was only a couple of hours away from dying

On the bright side, one of the side effects of my condition is that I don’t really scar, so the holes I got punched in me aren’t too bad

Yup, diet is solid. Plenty of greens, fruits, and lean meats. I haven’t even had fast food in months.

      • That’s probably why u healed so quick. I find that when I’m eating well mostly meats and fruits my body physically recovers far quicker.

I get all sorts of cuts and bruses all the time just walking into shit or being an idiot. I’ve noticed when I’m taking care if my diet as in heigh protein medium-low carb with some additional nutrient supplementing foods I heal much quicker.

Edit: I do have fast food every couple of weeks but I find after like half a burger it makes me feel almost physically ill.
