Try to figure out why you want to be here. Check out the list of popular instances (a lot of the instances have esoteric names) and see if there’s an instance that reflects your interests. Check what they’re federated to, and decide if those are the kind of people you want to talk to/ share your interests. There are general instances like ".ml and .world. " These instances can become overburdened. The account you have on their instance is your access to the rest of the fediverse/ lemmy.
Our active user base is somewhat small. The biggest thing is to explore, read side bar rules, and post!

Yes you can. But just as is true with posting and editing, sometimes a deletion will fail to federate to all instances. No federation action is guaranteed, but rather best effort.
