Should lead to increased apple profits, maybe? Actually don’t know. Foxconn slave camps are very cheap, even with the nets installed to catch the suiciding child workers.

My company will move to 3 days per week in the office soon (from 1 day). I will come in, drink coffee, talk to colleagues and plan to work, but not be able to actually work in that environment due to noise and disruptions.
So I will be almost not productive at all but I guess that’s fine. Other coworkers have the same attitude. We will come in and be there but just not even try to actually do work since it’s very hard, and we didn’t choose to work in that office.
“Nobody wants to work” right? Well, I was working, all was good, but I guess they don’t want me to. :)
I switched to zed too. It’s not perfect but it’s just nice to use a different editor that is not sluggish.
Helix is much faster than neovim, but annoyingly it feels so limited. Can’t change anything about it.
But it’s supposed to get plugins at some point.
It was an attempt at humor. :)
Ok let me say it in a better way. People who work in IT do it because they like it. Many of the first world wide web pages or YouTube videos were made without anyone wanting any money for it. There was no profit motive or expectation whatsoever.
That’s why I thought it was funny to read how instance owners are doing labor without getting paid, as if that was the purpose of the instance. To get paid for running it.
To me that’s funny. It’s a bit like me painting a painting and putting it out there, and asking people to pay for my labor. The hours I spent making it. Because now the painting exists in the world. Who is gonna pay for it?
I believe instance admins are more than happy running the instance without profit motive. Because it’s nice to be part of giving something to a community of people.
“battle through”. :)
I feel like you are young… Im more like the old soldier who is tired of fighting, and going into retirement.
My least favorite day is Monday because it all starts again, the week, from the beginning, just like it has 750 times before in the last 15 work years. It’s really getting old by now.
I wish to get paid for my labor writing this comment.
Community says focus on the browser.
Mozilla does that. Community says “not like that!”.
:) Well I look forward to trying it out.
I think a lot of unhappy people would exit the simulation… :)
I don’t think we will get to that level. It doesn’t make sense financially. I mean sure, replace people with robots will happen but it’s a long way from happening right now.
Then rich can afford to protect themselves, we can’t. We lose in that conflict. Whatever freedoms you think you have now will be restricted in a society where the rich are worried about their safety.
They don’t lose anything. In fact, I bet it’s even convenient for them to have reasons to build cages around everyone. Lots of money in building survellience, tracking people, spying on people.
The initial state of that has begun with Google but it’s not going to end. Decades from now, it’s possible that people will envy that previous generations could use the internet without identifying themselves, or go into buildings without a retina scan.
I hope they ended up with miserable lives. But I don’t know.
People trust it because scientists make a model. They don’t think about that the model makes many assumptions and if any assumption is wrong, it fails.
When I was a kid, they said entire California would end up in the sea within a few years, since it’s on a earthquake fault line.
That was 1990. :)
I will try it. People are too negative about mozilla. They are a hundred times better than Google and we need them to survive.
Hacker news users seem happy with its performance, so will try tomorrow. Fun with new terminals.
Good thing your post was not at all disrespectful… :)
It’s normal to have that experience, something is outdated, some things are not intuitive but you come out as a winner on the other side if you don’t give up. :)
I have amazing memories of that game. It’s something about being a kid that makes games feel so exciting. That goes away later so just enjoy the hell of it while you are young. :)
