The meanest, most dangerous dog I knew was an american eskimo owned by my ex wife. This was a 20 pound fluffball, and he looked like he would be friendly and fun to scratch behind the ears.

He loved to bite people, especially children. He had a specific thing he would do when someone looked at him: he would look up and smile, while vigorously wagging his poofy tail. You’d reach down to pet that brilliant white, angel-soft fur, and as soon as you were close enough, he would take a chunk out of your hand or arm. This wasn’t a playful bite, he would bite down hard and hang on.

She thought that the computer was doing everything for me. Which is possible now, but 30 years ago when CD-ROM and 256-color graphics were a cool new thing, not so much.

Im so glad I grew up with computer savvy parents.

I had a 3rd grade teacher who had an absolute meltdown because I was handing in homework that was “done on a computer”. This was a long time ago, the space-age super-intelligent computer that was apparently doing all my homework for me was a 12MHz 286 with 1024 kb of memory and a 40 mb hard drive.

Matters escalated to the point where there was a meeting with the principal, then the teacher and the principal, and finally my parents and the principal, where this dumb old woman had to explain why she wouldn’t accept the homework I was actually doing. She eneded up being told “More kids will be doing this every single year, he’s just the first, you need to get over it.”

My wife and I cared for her grandmother in her final years. This old woman learned to hand the phone to me when it was a scammer because I’d hassle them with whatever persona I wanted to use that day. I’m no Kitboga but she thought it was funny. And nobody got any money from her.

It seemed like they would try to get some small amount from her at first - like $250. She got caught out by it once, where she paid them the small amount, then they would come back “needing” a larger (five-figure) amount.
