I also have that exact story. Got a bunch of drugs, hired a prostitute. After she left, took a crazy concoction I thought for sure would kill me. I’ll never forget what I thought was my last breath. All I could feel was immense regret. My brain kept reminding me of all the little things I had to live for that for some reason I couldn’t think of at any moment before. I woke up the next day feeling like death, but I’ve never felt better to be alive. 7 years later and I remember it all like it was yesterday. I would never recommend anyone to go to that length to feel something, but I understand why it happens. Unfortunately too many people take that final breath and don’t wake back up. Find a good therapist to talk to. If that’s not an option then a family member or friend. The people who share that story all got lucky to a degree. If you don’t feel you have anyone if your life to reach out to, feel free to reach out to me or any trusted community you find on the internet. It may seem silly to talk to a complete stranger on the internet in that way, but there are an overwhelming number of real people here and not just bots lol.

I became really good friends with another kid in elementary school. Didn’t see him too much after middle school but was still friendly. A few years after we graduate high school he was leaving a party with a girl. He was driving while extremely shitfaced and speeding in a residential area. He blew through a stop sign and killed his passenger as well as a girl in another car. I think he was sentenced 20 years.

I casually brought up the fact that my high school had a daycare in conversation. The person I was talking to thought my school was k-12. Nope the daycare was for all the student mothers. I didn’t know that wasn’t normal lol.

I learned how to play with keyboard and mouse with World of Warcraft. Current retail WoW is terrible in my opinion but plenty of good private servers exist. Turtle WoW is great. MMOs do use more than just the basic wasd keys, but aside from those and the 1-0 keys, there is no rush to mash keys quickly. The rest of the keyboard is basically just hot keys to open up windows and menus. It helped me learn to be versatile with keyboard/mouse without being punishing when starting out.

Not sure if it’s still the case, but I recall my instance had a phrase hidden within the rules page that you had to find and include in your application.

The only thing I can think of that Word does better, is making equations. LibreOffice works ok, but it’s more clunky. I still use it over Word because it runs much faster on my PC

You seem to accept it in the case of dogs. Either way, I don’t really have a hard stance either way, was just more curious of your reasoning.

I’m admittedly not a cat person, however there seems to be quite a difference between a Maine Coon and a Sphynx. I agree though that long hair vs short hair of the same breed is negligible and doesn’t need to be an entirely separate breed.

I recently emailed my professor about a question on a take home test. I asked for clarification because the wording was weird. I also asked how I should format the answer, and where in the textbook I can find info relating to it. His email back to me just said “the answer is on page 75”. It was not.

I’m not a developer but I believe it was the Voyager dev that explained Lemmy currently can’t do this. Apps only reach out to Lemmy servers while they are open. Push notifications would require the developers to run their own servers that the apps would reach out to while running in the background and no one wants to pay for that especially since most apps are free. I may be explaining this wrong.

Buying Blu-ray, going to theaters, and buying merchandise aren’t alternatives to owning digitally. I won’t speak for all pirates, but I just want to own a digital copy of what i pay for. Even streaming with a paid subscription isn’t a viable alternative. I don’t pirate to protest, I pirate because there’s no other choice.

Yes my department store example was kind of alluding to that. As far as video games go, either sales are poor, or the game was never worth the original price. Also sales such as the ones Steam has are often great for advertising. I always see games I’ve never heard of. Those developers take a hit on their per unit price so that they can potentially sell more units. The fact that these are digital items means they aren’t losing money on manufacturing costs. Patient gamer communities exist for customers that smell the bullshit.

Companies often create incentives so that their customers will want to buy more of their products. Sales exist within every industry and happen for various reasons. Even with your example of grocery stores, there are other reasons for having sales. I believe it was Kmart that had the famous blue light special. Publix, a southeastern US chain has a weekly rotating sale. Costco has a similar rotating sale. Maybe items are deteriorating, maybe there is an excess of stock. Maybe an item goes on sale for the purpose of luring customers into a store in hopes that they will buy more things. Maybe the item of sale already had a huge markup and the sale brings the price down so there is only a moderate markup, which is often employed by department stores in malls. There are many more reasons for a company to put items of sale i won’t get into here.

I’ve always had real bad allergies. Even worse when I was younger and it would usually leave me with dry eyes. When I was a teenager I mistook eardrops for eyedrops. I will never forget that pain. I always triple check before I put anything in my eyes.
