Yes I agree, but my point is that if a reviewer does not have a proper scoring method and rates everything on feelings and what looks right, that different visual scales would have a psychological effect on his final score between the scoring systems.
yes why they are identical scales with same numerical values, i’d argue that each scales visual representation be it smiley faces or numbers would have a different consumer meaning in what would be considered bad, average, good etc… for example a 3,5/5 smiley faces can be seen as above average, but it’s equivalent 7/10 would be considered good if not very good when looking at a number scale, so yes while they both have the same mathematical value, it all boils down to on how WE perceive THEIR value, wouldn’t you agree?
True, but 3,5/5 would still be 7/10 regardless, this post came from an argument with my friend where we were rating movies and i’m calling a movie mid by giving it 3/5 and he said “bro you that would be 6/10 you should score lower then” and I said that you cant just convert to a 10 point scale since 3,5/5 and 6/10 have different visual representation and as you mentioned the 10 point system would also have its own 0,5 increments. But he just said math is math…
