It’s really weird to take as pessimistic a view as possible on something that doesn’t even exist, and conclude that it’s terrible.

I could expose my IP, I was previously and really don’t have a problem with it. My IP is fairly static. It’s just more convenient to use cloudflared internal to the network and proxy the addresses.
If I can’t figure out an automated solution for this, that’s likely what I’ll do. I’m just hopeful there’s a tool out there to do this that I’m just not familiar with.
Thanks for the response regardless, I appreciate you taking the time!
I’d be fine with individual certs, the issue I’m running into is that a cloudflare proxy record requires a cert for that multi level subdomain, and they won’t handle that cert without you paying them. You can, however, upload your own cert for it.
I’m trying to find a way to automate that process, since remembering to update a cert manually every 3 months is outside my ability.
They were talking about matrix itself, not a specific option. And I’m not going to lie, having to hand hold your servers federation choices seems like a hassle. At that point why not just use a self hosted, non federated option?
He’s attracted to them?
Oooo thank you for this. I already use Calibre but their web offering is imho kinda bad. This looks like it’s pretty much a drop in solution to my problem. If I throw it behind a zero trust page I can even open it up to the open internet.
Thank you for this!
What I really want is a a similar project for epub files. I’ve not been able to find a web based library that allows easy download and auth based management.
Time to learn how to sail?

Yeah, they do give a place to voice that desire though:
But the journey doesn’t end here! Want to see even more LEGO® classics on GOG? Titles like LEGO Island, LEGO Rock Raiders, or LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga could become reality with your help. Head over to the GOG Dreamlist and vote for your favorites – it’s the best way to show publishers that these games deserve a place in the GOG catalog!
Yeah, pretty sure the “main” selling point is the 18+ patch.
Lol
Not just reading. A while back, some ISPs moved towards replacing DNS queries to known DNS servers with their own replies.
Fortnite, Apex Legends, Guild Wars 2 (which admittedly released on Steam later) and more all prove this claim false.
These kinds of comments are just silly. Explain how Valve has a monopoly.
There’s no perfect detection, unfortunately.
There’s also something to be said about some services being cordoned off in a VPN while leaving some public with security. I don’t necessarily want everyone within my full network if all I want is to share one service with them.
Why don’t we just throw Lemmy behind wireguard while we’re at it.
Literally anything can go behind a VPN. Doesn’t mean much at all. And the majority of those are commonly left on the open internet for friends and family, which would be annoying af to set up with WireGuard.
I have enough issues dealing with VPN issues in my professional life, I don’t want to have to deal with them in my personal life as well.
“Oops people cared, sorry about that.”
