As a homelabber, I finally got around to installing it a few months back. I do have some wish list items that seem like common sense things that have been in the works for years, but I do love it compared to the horror of running everything from my main desktop and just never turning it off.

We have an excel. It’s more… a group of excels? They call each other. Opening and running VBA within each other. The excels are “run” nightly, and take well over an hour to do their thing.
Should we just keep it in Excel?

Back end servers usually ignore extra data not possible in vanilla clients, or completely deny the connection because of the extra data. I know of literally no other official server that accepts and passes along random mod data.
Why are you allowing mods to pass information through your official servers to begin with? That’s private server territory.

This isn’t happening. The government understand what a botnet is, and if tens or hundreds of thousands of compromised machines are involved, they aren’t coming after you for being part of the attack.

It’s really weird to take as pessimistic a view as possible on something that doesn’t even exist, and conclude that it’s terrible.
I could expose my IP, I was previously and really don’t have a problem with it. My IP is fairly static. It’s just more convenient to use cloudflared internal to the network and proxy the addresses.
If I can’t figure out an automated solution for this, that’s likely what I’ll do. I’m just hopeful there’s a tool out there to do this that I’m just not familiar with.

I’d be fine with individual certs, the issue I’m running into is that a cloudflare proxy record requires a cert for that multi level subdomain, and they won’t handle that cert without you paying them. You can, however, upload your own cert for it.
I’m trying to find a way to automate that process, since remembering to update a cert manually every 3 months is outside my ability.
They were talking about matrix itself, not a specific option. And I’m not going to lie, having to hand hold your servers federation choices seems like a hassle. At that point why not just use a self hosted, non federated option?

Oooo thank you for this. I already use Calibre but their web offering is imho kinda bad. This looks like it’s pretty much a drop in solution to my problem. If I throw it behind a zero trust page I can even open it up to the open internet.

What I really want is a a similar project for epub files. I’ve not been able to find a web based library that allows easy download and auth based management.
I dont see how that could be legal.
