I used to be really good at video games, but now I just don’t have the time. I remember being able to jump in any CS lobby and jump to the top of the server. I got kicked for supposedly cheating all the time. That was always a good feeling. Knowing that I’m kicking so much ass that people assume I must be cheating.
My crowning achievement is beating Super Ghouls and Ghosts - both times through (second time with the farie bracelet). This was using an original SNES, no save states or anything. Dedicated an entire summer of my teenage life to it. Game is hard, man.
Computers used to be a hobby but I turned that into a career. I’m a principal systems engineer and I like to think I’m good at what I do.
I got really into cooking, and it was maybe a hobby at some point, but now with a family it’s more of a necessity. A lot of the things I learned while cooking as a hobby turned into skills though. I’m not sure how to explain it, but like having cooking intuition. Knowing when to add more or less of something just by knowing. Also just being able to freestyle meals out of what is laying around or knowing what can be substituted with what or how to make ingredients out of other ingredients.
My thoughts exactly. If we could make solar panels more effective and cheaper in addition to having a way to store and quickly discharge that energy safely, we could power houses, cars, etc all without emission. Would love it if the batteries didn’t have short lives as well.
Theres some cool solid state battery tech on the horizon, but it always seems to be on the horizon and never actually showing up.
This is why I always try and find a parking spot closest to a cart corral. People go crazy trying to get a spot closest to the front of the store, but ultimately your last stop before getting in your car should be at the cart corral. Yes, sometimes this means parking further away from the front door, but I have functioning legs and walking an extra 30 feet isn’t a problem.
Nah, the Stop n Shop I go to has portable scan guns, it’s really the best. If I have to shop somewhere that doesn’t have these, it will ruin my day. For the uninitiated, it’s a portable bar code scanner with a little screen on it. You scan items as you take them off the shelf, put them in your bags, and when you are done shopping there is a “checkout” button on the gun/screen that generates a barcode. Scan that barcode at the self checkout, pay, and be on your way. It is peak grocery shopping efficiency.
ABYXABYXBABAYXXABYX - infinite thermal detonators in one of the Star Wars SNES games
Everylittlethingshedoes - unlock all magic in Warcraft 2
BEWAREOBLIVIONISATHAND - something in Turok 2. I think all weapons?
A little disappointed that it doesn’t have a butthole.

My favorite is probably the Drab breasted bamboo tyrant
Funny story. LG made something with a similar concept about 10 years ago and it never really took off. The LG G5 was a modular smart phone that was supposed to have a bunch of cool modules, but they never came to fruition.
I had one, but mostly because I loved having a swappable battery. Never had to charge my phone, I would just have a spare battery charging on my desk and I would swap it out before I left the house.
They have been in hot water before when they were caught scraping data without consent and sending it back to Epic. Folders/files and apparently steam user info?
The client still supposedly phones home with some encrypted data and nobody is completely sure what it is, they say it’s anti-cheat stuff, but then there’s this:
“40% of Epic Games is owned by Tencent they’re a Chinese Tech Company which the Chinese Government has a certain say in what they do. LITERALLY without Tencent Epic would go under they’re the only reason why Epic Games has gotten so many exclusives and given away so many free games. There is LITERALLY a board member in Tencent that was appointed by the Chinese Government.”
So can we trust them? Probably not.
Hell yeah! I did not know this was an option. Thanks for the tip!
Sounds like you need a third bin.
Never give up the dream.
