Basically learn to do that in your interviews. If you’re lucky enough to know the name of your interviewer beforehand, stalk their LinkedIn and try and find something they’re interested in. People love talking about themselves. If you can manage to get your interviewer rambling about something they like, they will come away feeling it was a good interview, and you’ll probably learn a hell of a lot more about what the job is actually like on a day to day basis.

I’ve found that the smaller the company, the higher the success rate doing something like this. Larger companies tend to have a more rigid interview structure or have multiple interviewers at once.

ReVanced mods the official YouTube apk, meaning you maintain syncing watch history, subscriptions, likes, comments etc. Which iirc NewPipe doesn’t. Whether you care about that is entirely up to you though, NewPipe is certainly better if you care more about privacy

Samsung TVs run Tizen which is their own OS, rather than a skinned Android TV. It’s pretty minimal so you need some other box or stick if you want a good watching experience, but it doesn’t do anything hostile as long as you turn the tracking bs off at setup, and there are no ads in the UI (at least on the 2019 model my parents have).

There’s no truly open source TV OS though :( I miss Firefox OS

Zen is based on Firefox, it supports 100% of firefox addons, as well as supporting its own community mods system for changing the browser itself

It won’t save us on its own, not even close, but imo that tech will 100% be needed if we want to reduce the impact of climate change. Even if we stopped burning fossil fuels this very second we’d still need to suck a whole lot of carbon out of the atmosphere to get things back on track. Trying to capture carbon while we’re still emitting is like trying to bail out the titanic with a teaspoon.

I use sunshine and moonlight using a pi 5 running Android TV as the client. It works perfectly for the occasional video stream but latency for games is a bit rough. You’ll probably be fine playing something relaxed like Stardew Valley but platformers (I’ve tried Ultimate Chicken Horse) and racing games (Mario Kart Wii running in Dolphin) are just bad enough to be unplayable. This is with both devices connected over Ethernet (albeit through a powerline adapter and my router is fairly cheap) so WiFi will probably be worse.

Not sure if sunshine and moonlight just have loads of overhead or if there’s a part of my setup causing the latency.

From what other people have said and from the occasional video that’s popped up on Youtube, Discord has a library of CSAM content that its automated systems match against and there are certain individuals that try to bait people to post seemingly innocent pictures that are actually frames from said videos. Discord’s systems see that the image is a frame from such material and will auto-ban the account

Framework 16 does have a dedicated GPU option, and it’s upgradable.

I use it because it’s faster than Etcher and it also has a bunch of quick links to download popular images (mainly for RPI and other arm-based SBCs) in one click which is handy if you use those regularly.

I recently set up Fedora Kinoite on my dad’s laptop for him and he seems very happy with it. Kinoite is the atomic/immutable version with KDE Plasma by default. Once I’d set up a couple of things everything else he needs can be installed with flatpak (just make sure to set Flathub as the default and disable the Fedora flatpaks repo that ships broken packages all the time)

I read about ActualBudget and although it’s not the most useful thing for me (I only have one bank account and my finances are about as simple as you can get), I spun up a docker container for it anyway out of curiosity. It allows you to categorise all your transactions and set up rules with simple name matches and even regex for more advanced matching. It took me a couple of hours to create all my rules but future transactions should now be categorised automatically. There’s also a tab where you can setup charts and graphs to see visually how much you’ve spent on certain categories in the last X days and so on.

It might be overkill for what you’re looking for, but you might find it useful or just nice to have for other reasons, and it certainly should cover your use case.

Matrix isn’t fediverse though. It is Federated but uses its own protocol
