except that “get em hooked for free” part isnt working, nor is the “then make money” part.
I exist or something probably
except that “get em hooked for free” part isnt working, nor is the “then make money” part.
sure, im not saying blindly trust people in all situations. but distrust should be exceptional, not normal.
and your heart could fail at any moment randomly. doesnt make it rational to design your whole life around it. Yes people can betray your trust, but again and again and again it’s been shown that people dont betray eachother far far more often than they do. Also, if you’re big on Logic™️, lying only works if the vast majority of communication is truthful.
the sort of logic that’s fundamentally irrational.
informative advice, people in the us had no idea cops could be bad before, thank you. ill pass it along.
the only thing im learning is what it feels like when uninformed people from the us comment on political events and trajectories in some country they barely skimmed the wikipedia article on.
The comment directly above mine that you responded to has “a lesson the rest of the world has been waiting for you to learn”. and the first comment is “hope you enjoy”, among others. No, they arent directly stating they want the people being harmed to be genocided, but they are giddy at the idea and are acting like it’s a good thing. indelicate, maybe, effectively advocation for genocide, yes, intended or not (i assume not).
leftists certainly are out in great numbers and more by the day, unprecedented protests that are working but it’s not nearly enough, no.
by their comments, apparently the rest of the world has been hoping the us would fully fall to internal fascism and genocide its minorities like immigrants, trans people, political dissenters, and most likely far more. this is just advocacy for genocide.
im not sure you understand my and others’ responses based on this. in the lead up to any genocide, do you think it makes sense to tell the soon to be slaughtered and enslaved, especially the ones who have been fighting against it, “hope you learn from this”? you are just advocating for cruelty against your political allies out of rightful anger at the perpetrators.
kindergarden logic is hoping for immense suffering, genocide, and slavery, to “teach a lesson”. kindergarden logic is thinking the us sliding into full blown fascism doesnt make the geopolitical landscape of the world far more oppressive. i recommend you think for half a second before openly advocating for genocide.
No i think their point is exactly right. for example, Reagan wouldnt be disappeared tomorrow, it’s exactly the people who are against the imperialism!
many for profit companies have done this before, however:
Think about the incentive structure here, it incentivises not learning about bugs in the software. it incentivises as this always does, that those with money to swing around get additional explicit systemic power to dictate the features and bugs that get fixed. this is a bounty system with extra steps and not learning about bugs. and to boot, if a company really wants to pay, they can probably pay a dev of their own to work on many of these issues. it doesnt seem like this really solves any issues and just imposes a pay-to-speak system. ick.
to add, the point of Rojavas and “centralized” military forces - this is where syndicalists tend to find their strongest justifications, in having built in systems of military federation that are demonstrably effective without making it super incentivized to do power centralization.
“we have not seen anarchism at a [large scale]” this is extremely debatable, historcally speaking large communities have existed in pseudo anarchistic systsms off and on across the world. The general counter is to claim that hierarchal governance, especially the state, are variously metastable governance systems which outcompete anarchistic communities. But this is only historically supported inasmuch as they did “win out”, but that is not actually evidence that it’s the only metastable form of large scale governance.
whether you believe the us fucked around or not, genocide is not schaudenfreude.
they’ll find a use case any day now for realsies.
optimism and hope are necessary in all scenarios, i dont know who rr is beyond this article but these are mostly fair things to be optimistic about. by optimism i do mean things that imply it’s not necessarily the worst case scenario, that this is perhaps a 2 and change regime and not a 70+ year regime, and that some responses to the horrors are working. Even more someof these things imply a civil war is not as likely as it might be, which is a massive win unless you are a bloodthirsty fool. Could you be more specific with your problems here?
some damage yes but this is big for limiting further firings.
and now neural networks are suddenly the preposterous advance? Nonsense.
voice generators and generative ai are built with the intent of replacing artists, your incredibly reductive “history lesson” funnily illustrates only situations distinct from the current situation and you gloss over making any specific claims about the technology, just broad vagary about the trajectories of technological advancement. I dont think you are equipped to discuss this topic honestly.
luddites are corporate propaganda
??? actually just a plainly absurd statement. this isnt even worth responding to it’s so absurdly incorrect.
Yes yes ubi, but “technological labor amplification” in this case is driving human artists out of the market. make specific claims, quit hiding behind vague generalizations about automation. it’s a waste of everyone’s time and terminates your train of thought before you get to something relevant.
We can discuss further if you make an effort to understand this topic, but so far you are just speaking largely in cliches that arent worth responding to and arent worth your time writing.
Here’s a recent reuters report. https://www.reuters.com/technology/artificial-intelligence/ghibli-effect-chatgpt-usage-hits-record-after-rollout-viral-feature-2025-04-01/
160 million active users is quite literally worse than many mobile games developed for a tens of, maybe hundreds of thousands of, usd. 160 million active users for 40 billion funding (they have needed more than this, but i cant be assed to go tally their funding) means theyve spent $250 per user, and their costs only grow as people use it. That is not including the massive server time subsidies Azure has provided them. This is not a profitable company and never will be.
“Block Blast” on the google play store has 40 million daily active users, 160 million monthly, and the studio has around 30 people. Its revenue from ads alone is in the tens of millions per month if this case study is accurate. Oai claims their monthly revenue in the hundreds of millions… with operating costs at greater hundreds of millions. oai profit is negative, with no signs of improving without entirely changing their business plan.
