you must be a blast at parties.
Now if this CarPlay is some trip planning feature where it automatically fills in stops based on your current range and destination, I can see that requiring some sort of special communication with the car.
yes, that is the feature they just implemented for NACS. it was already working for other networks in Ford EVs.
it’s not clear to me this is strictly limited to ford. apple added nav support for the tesla supercharger network (NACS) in maps. Ford was the first non-tesla brand with access to NACS but many others can use it now and more will in the future. Ford also released a PR statement about it but obviously they aren’t going to mention other car brands in it.
edit: as the other comment mentioned, this feature will only work with cars that share the car’s SOC through CarPlay so apple can plan your route with chargers. This is a choice of the manufacturer to offer that support, not a limitation by apple.
great, the one AI feature i actually want.
this has nothing to do with having a mortgage or being “cash poor”. This is about being aware of your finances. I automate all my bills as well but i still check everything at least monthly to ensure nothing crazy like this. $10k is easily noticeable even if you are only checking a balance.
sure, there is financially predatory shit all over app stores and social media, but i’m not sure this is the best anectode to be spreading that message with.
let’s assume the parents debit card got linked to their daughters iphone through icloud magic that average people wouldn’t know about. ok fine.
let’s assume they didn’t think they needed limits on the kids phone because there was no payment method. sure.
let’s also say that their bank should have alerted them to these transactions (even though there’s nothing inherently suspicious about them to me, people spend money on dumb shit all the time).
but even after all that… how the fuck do you not notice £8500 over 90 days gone from your checking account? i’m having a hard time sympathizing with that level of financial obliviousness.
right back at you, genius.
anyway, there is literally no point in thinking on anything you say if you honestly believe this:
Me: “Hiring processes have ALWAYS used sex/race/etc in hiring, it is not a new thing invented by woke lefties. DEI policies are there to REDUCE it.”
You: “The former is present when needed for business”
All the non sequiturs and irrelevant historical quotes are just burying this very clear statement that you’re racist.
You said it’s “promotion” in pre-hiring process, but not in the hiring process. Logically this means multiplication, that is, that this works as a quota. Mathematically it does, and, of course, I can’t for the life of me care what they call it in socialspeak.
utter garbage.
Yes, I understand both these statements.
The former is present when needed for business,
you don’t understand shit.
I’ll also add that the hardest part in building any mechanism is designing it properly, not voting for it and not being so proud how you voted once for the right party, voting doesn’t involve thinking, it involves putting a mark on a paper. And the reason various freaks and jerks are now in charge of your country is because of poorly designed mechanisms aimed at various noble goals failing again and again.
what the fuck does this have to do with anything?
May not always work like this, but sometimes it does.
like where? according to Cook they do not have quotas.
Also yes, what you described is similar to quotas,
no, it literally is not.
anyway, we are missing the forest for the trees. i will restate the main point i was trying to get across in my original comment. Hiring processes have ALWAYS used sex/race/etc in hiring, it is not a new thing invented by woke lefties. DEI policies are there to REDUCE it.
such as the use of race and sex in hiring decisions.”
this is such a misunderstanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and it’s a shame to see BBC frame it in this way. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies are there to REDUCE the “use of race and sex” in hiring decisions by reducing bias towards majority demographics. There may be policies to promote race/sex in the PRE-hiring process to ensure you have diverse candidates to consider, but it is NOT demographic quotas that override hiring based on merit.
it’s not a bug it’s a feature.
this rendering looks awful with no display of any kind while folded and apparently all the microphones and speakers inside the fold.
so? either they have creases or they don’t.
we are, this guy is a quack.
he’s reducing himself to that glitch. as i said in my other comment it’s the centerpiece of his own website’s ADHD page.
it’s the main focus of his own website’s section on ADHD.
Rather than an inherited disease, Attention Deficit Disorder is a reversible impairment and a developmental delay, with origins in infancy. It is rooted in multigenerational family stress and in disturbed social conditions in a stressed society. In Scattered Minds, Dr. Maté offers a completely new perspective on this disorder, providing hope for adults with ADD, and parents seeking to support their children.
what specifically is being misrepresented?
from his website:

he’s not using it as a “source”, just to quickly summarize information and research he is familiar with already. this isn’t some schmoe just repeating whatever google AI says, he is a very prominent researcher and physician in the field.
He’s a family practice physician (not psychiatrist or researcher) who likes to write books and speak authoritatively on platforms like Joe Rogan about ADHD (amongst other things). His whole thing is to deny genetic factors and blame children for being too sensitive and parents for not parenting right.
