Not saying it would have been different today, but at the time cellphones were so new, and not a lot of people had them, a jury just had to trust what they were told. The way it was presented in the podcast seemed as though it was a very new concept for all, and that they weren’t really told how wide of a net the cell phone data pulled in. It was all trusted at face value, resulting in the conviction.
To be fair, if you’re going to do something really illegal, you shouldn’t bring your phone with you anyway, or at least put it on airplane mode. Even without Google Maps, the cell towers will triangulate your approximate location and time, and it’s basically the first thing police pull if there’s a crime in an area.
You’ll also probably need to make sure you conceal your face as you walk by a million ring doorbell cameras, because those will rat you out and disprove your alibi.
This is why there are so many Twitch streamers. They get nothing out of it except for a perfect alibi.
The thing that gets me about Peloton is running and to a certain extent biking are fairly inexpensive ways to exercise, and they somehow turned that into a high upfront cost with a subscription model.

Wow I’ve seen some really weird backwards compatibility issues, but this takes the cake. I would have imagined that in the move to XLSX they could have addressed this and sorted it out when saving, but nope, I guess having all days off by one and maintaining a support page explaining Lotus123 backwards compatibility for forever is earlier?
