I’m in cybersecurity and being a heat pump technician is starting to sound very appealing. Can’t seem to convince my younger brother tho. Guess we all gotta make our mistakes before we can learn.

Easy as hell to be a doomer. That’s why I admire scifi authors that dare to guess the form a better world may take. And yes I’d appreciate any “hopeful scifi” media recommendations.
Overdosing on benydryll will make you halucinate. And not the fun kind
No. Though I think it’s important to separate video serving Youtube and recommendations/algorithm YouTube. We need FOSS solutions to both and neither will be easy.
I have a barstool I put on the treadmill for breaks. Just comfy enough for a rest but you’ll still find yourself wanting to stand up again after a while. And so far I haven’t accidentally turned the treadmill on while sitting.
Buys a nice ergonomic chair. Sits in it like this.
Which makes even more sense when you ask “where does the fat go?”
Well where did that carbon you just exhaled come from?
I disagree that full responsibility needs to go on the manufacturer. An undeniable issue with our current system is that consumers expect to throw all plastic in one bin that isn’t the garbage and be done with it. There are lots of different ways to set up responsibility, but on top of production changes plastic “recycling” will need to change significantly from the user perspective. Things like stronger deposit programs would be a bare minimum to start addressing the consumer side (in tandem with measures addressing production of course)
Significant reduction in single use plastics, banning plastic use in certain products (even non-single-use), and a drastic increase in accountability for producers and consumers.
Hmm as a gen Z do I rewatch stargate or try mash?
Amazed nobody beat me to Astrum. Fantastic overviews of space missions, planetary bodies, etc. Perfect to drift off to sleep with. Unfortunately I think he’s running out of things to cover so the content machine has pushed him towards pop sci astronomy. Thoroughly recommend checking out the channel playlists though.
Using the duress password could potentially be charged as destruction of evidence. If you can refuse to enter a password long enough for it to auto wipe before a judge orders you to unlock it you could avoid the danger of legal consequences. No destruction of evidence and no contempt of court.
Been using it for a while and it’s great.
Next up: auto wipe device after x days of no authentication.
I grew up in deep mormon territory in Utah. I don’t disagree with the comments on religious extremism and bad politics, but remember the people this bill will affect are kids. The LDS church is losing youth for a variety of reasons, their policies toward LGBTQ being a big one. The nazi flag is rage bait meant to distract from the real harm of this bill.
I put mint on a separate drive over the weekend. My two outstanding issues are my already-niche pieces of hardware. My KVM doesn’t pass USB devices to my other device for some reason. I’m reasonably confident I can figure that one out. My other issue is my HID NFC reader for my Yubikey. No official driver for Linux so I expect that one to be more tricky, though I’d appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction.
I know this is pushing it but can we throw in all the western states? I promise Utah’s national parks and skiing are awesome.
The criticism of the problems in our recycling system is valid, but almost every time people spin these criticisms into dismissing the system entirely. We need to be more accountable for our material use and waste, not less. It’s true the rates materials are used even when they hit a recycle bin aren’t great, but arguably it’s driven by our desire for something as easy as the landfill that gives us a false warm and fuzzy feeling. Accountability isn’t always easy or fun and these flawed systems are driven by our flawed expectations.
Used bookstores smell better.
He’d play Scytale for the curious.
Curious how this plays out. I’m all for doing the entire original 8 books. Game of Thrones would look normal by the time they were done and I’d relish the chaos.
