It isn’t here either. That’s over the course of ~2 years but I’m not wealthy by any means either. I’m lucky to not rely on it for work, so I can wait and take my time repairing it when needed.

Well the good news is that after I dumped a ton of money into it, it’s running smooth and still looks pretty new. It’s a Typ 8P A3 hatchback which are kind of rare here in the US.
The impression I got from the car history was that owner #2 drove it pretty hard and never maintained it. I’m dreaded owner #3.
Oh, that’s pretty sick.
I don’t think it’s what you’re looking for but what your post reminds me of is ReactOS, though that’s more of a rewrite of actual Windows than a Linux distro.
I bought a 10 year Audi for $5,000 (USD) but then spent something like $10-15,000 in repairs because I’m an idiot.
If only there were an anonymous, distributed, peer-to-peer network where things like this could be hosted easily. cough i2p
I think this is the most audited write-off if I remember correctly.
My wife and I hosted a Christmas gathering at our place with a few friends as well as some acquaintances.
We had organized Secret Santa and I was given someone but on the day of the event I thought that we had been tasked with giving gifts as couples — I thought my wife had chosen a gift but it turned out that I had just totally forgotten to buy one for the person I drew.
Can we all just move on from Reddit? I feel like the constant bitterness toward it only brings a negative attitude to Lemmy.
Personally, I have Reddit completely blocked on my network and the only way to “access” it is to redirect to a Redlib instance. I don’t really care to hear about it anymore.
I knew someone with the exact same story.
You don’t fucking know me bro. I’m not privileged in the least, the most I’ve borrowed from my parents is $20 and I worked for minimum wage all throughout my 20s.
Just because I’m not a deadbeat loser doesn’t mean I’m privileged.
It’s crazy because I’m liberal as fuck, totally understand how cursed housing is but I still can’t take this as sarcasm.
I’m fully living on my own despite a horrible public school system, no college education, etc. Hell, I moved to Los Angeles with nothing but a backpack and $800 and no high paying job experience.
At some point you have to figure out your life and move on; sitting around and blaming everyone else for your problems won’t get you anything.
You’re downvoted to hell but I mean, it’s true. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
When I first switched to Linux about 20 years ago I would actually get bored because I wouldn’t have to spend so much time maintaining it. Of course, I realized over time that that means I can focus on actual productivity rather than zombie maintenance.
Finally resolved an issue with Tailscale and DNS. Unbound on my VPS kept serving records too slowly from a distant (~200ms) upstream DNS server, Tailscale would return SERVFAIL
then iOS/macOS would cache it for a long time.
I’m not sure how it’s fixed but simply swapping out Unbound with Blocky solved the problem.
Quitting nicotine. I wanted to quit so that I could get in shape without almost dying, but after two months of rigorous exercise and healthy eating I just feel depressed, incredibly bored (the dopamine from exercise was nice at first but doesn’t really help now) and I’m now 10 lbs heavier than I was to begin with.
misunderstood, bitter, burnout
Outside of discussions about the Dead Internet Theory I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone express this.
I haven’t used it in about 10 years and in fact now have all Meta properties blocked on my networks.
What’s the thing made of what appears to be glass piping?
