We’ve been working on adding (alpha) PieFed support to the Interstellar app for the past few weeks, and it has finally been released.
Keep in mind that the API is currently limited in its capabilities, and we were not able to implement all the features Interstellar provides; this is the case wherever you see a screen or pop-up message that says “Unimplemented” error. Additionally, the alpha API could easily change at any moment, so don’t expect it to work without issues.
If you’d like to try it out despite it being an “alpha” feature, then when you go to sign-in, enter preferred.social
as the Instance Host. See this post (https://piefed.social/post/484755) if you’d like more information about that instance and general PieFed API info.
I’m sorry you experienced that. But thank you for reporting. I believe I was actually able to replicate the issue by doing just as you mentioned. I should be able to get it fixed.
I’m assuming you just installed the app, added the piefed guest account, then you started switching back and forth between kbin.earth and preferred.social? Because that was what I did to replicate it.
If you’d like to continue trying it till a fix is made, then all you need to do is remove the initial kbin.earth guest account once you add another one (you can add it back after though).
That was exactly what I did, yes. In particular I did not like the placement of the notification icons below everything, wasting so much space and making everything so vertical when there was seemingly still an enormous amount of space leftover in the row above it, but then realized that this was very likely due to modification of how things looked on Mbin, and sure enough that was the case.
Which is fine, it just means that specifically the component adding in PieFed support is still very much in alpha, as stated:-). Interstellar looks pretty good using Mbin! Very reminiscent of Thunder to me. The polish for PieFed support will come more slowly over time I’m sure.:-)
You probably only needed the facts here and not also the explanation of the thought process that led me to do that sequence of actions, but in case it helped, now you have both:-).
Alright, the issue is fixed and will be available whenever the next update comes out! Thanks again for giving info about the bug.
I know exactly what you mean about the notification controls using a lot of space in the comments. It definitely needs to be rearranged. Mbin doesn’t have notification controls for comments, as you can probably tell, so it was sort of overlooked when released. But hey, at least it works! It just doesn’t look great :)
Wow, so fast, as too was the addition of PieFed in the first place, that’s so amazing to see!:-)
I’m going to have to stop saying that PieFed now has an app supported for it… bc now it has two (although really, only one, bc Interstellar is available on the App Store while Thunder’s support is still only on GitHub iirc).
