I’m not a professional, but I figure this might help someone. If you’re feeling that you’re approaching your limit and you can’t take it anymore. Get off the internet.
The modern internet is fine tuned to stress you out, and make you feel hopeless. Billions of dollars are being made by making you suffer. Lemmy is not safe from this.
I’m not saying it’s a magic bullet but it might be an easy first step on getting better.
I don’t know how helpful this will be, but if you’re suffering I hope that you’re able to work through it safely.
You are loved
I’ve been told I’m “sticking my head in the sand” by actively limiting my exposure to news particularly. Apparently some people feel like we’re obligated to feel miserable all day every day.
I mean, the hope is that seeing all the unjust bullshit going on should galvanized you into action to stop it, not make you feel pointlessly miserable.
I’d say most of the active conversations on Lemmy are in the stress you out category.
I’ve been blocking a lot of communities in an attempt to avoid that.
I’ve decided that with this online presence of mine, I’d rather not be regurgitating doom and gloom. No matter how justified it might be.
Just block and move on. Looking back when I first join Lemmy it was tedious but now I barely have anything but good interaction on here :)
This is good advice.
I wish I wasn’t working in tech.
If I’m feeling this way I leave my phone in the furthest away place I can and do something else.
