      It’s a thing he does in the bible. It’s an act of service. It’s a menial task that he willingly does to show that everyone should help one another even if it’s only in the most basic of things.

      The disciples at that point still expected Jesus to be a political king to free the Jews from the Roman Empire by force; Jesus did the slave job of washing feet to show them that in His upside-down “kingdom”, the king is slave to all, and likewise how His followers should act.
