If I time traveled to the same geographical region, considering I’m in South Brazil, if I don’t get immediately killed by some jungle animal or tropical disease, I’d probably end up starting a pandemic among the natives.
One technique I’ve heard being used by Bible translators to learn new languages: show some curious/interesting object, you’ll learn the phrase “what is this?”, then start pointing at everything and repeating it.
Not exactly wrong. But parts of it are 3000 years old writings of 5000 years old stories, going in blind without historical and cultural contexts is recipe for disaster, even people that grew in church often have problems.
I feel some good starts could be Martin Luther’s “Small Catechism” and “On Christian Liberty”.
Edit: maybe a bible studies group of an historical church (Lutheran, Presbyterian, Catholic, Orthodox, etc. )
They lived in an arid region and used sandals, at the end of the day their feet would be very dusty.
The disciples at that point still expected Jesus to be a political king to free the Jews from the Roman Empire by force; Jesus did the slave job of washing feet to show them that in His upside-down “kingdom”, the king is slave to all, and likewise how His followers should act.
It is a nice backpack tho…
Little Big Adventure 2 helped me with English.
I watched the prequels first as a child. I still like Jar Jar.
The description of the first primitive church in Jerusalem is very close to an ideal anarchist commune.

Still western, but I sometimes see posts coming from the Brazilian lemmy.eco.br

Iguaçu Falls, on the border between Brazil and Argentina. Nearby you could also visit Itaipu Dam, formerly largest in the world.
Going a bit into the same Brazilian state of Paraná, there’s also the amazing Vila Velha park, with incredible sandstone formations.
Code in MS Word because it handles tabs correctly, unlike all code editors.
Tab means “move to the next tabstop”, not “advance a fixed amount”.
(I don’t do it, I’m not THAT insane)
I said it was a stretch, tracking time certainly was already important for hunter-gatherer societies. I was not disagreeing with you.
It’s a stretch, and not Capitalism, but arguably the primitive agrarian societies were the first to have an exploited worker class.
Brazil did much worse slavery, but the racism is “softer”, there was a moment when 80% of the population was enslaved black/mixed people (indigenous were mostly just genocided away).
Because most people are mixed, the racism here today is just on looks instead of ancestry, and AFAIK less violent.
Do any exist?
Abortion is sometimes the less monstrous alternative in a horrible situation, and it should never be seen as less than that.
Women should have enough social safety nets that abortion would never even cross their minds.
It is mostly Capitalism with its focus on productivity and selling youth and beauty that pressures women into it, women are “freeing” themselves into Capitalistic slavery.

Well, Iberia, Fr*nce, Deutschland, and Poland already look like a bunch of boxes side by side.
