Being the devil’s advocate, I can somewhat think of these potential benefits:

• More energy efficient

• Faster memory speed with soldered memory (which this one in particular doesn’t use)

• Allows for increased performance and cooling of those chips

• Better integrated graphics

And maybe… hopefully… cheaper?
