Removed gross drop ceiling installed in master bedroom at first of the year. Rerouted wiring for ceiling light/fan properly thru the attic. Installed 2x4 strapping, fresh 1/2" drywall, and scabbed in 12" of drywall to complete the wall to the ceiling that the original remodellers covered up with drop ceiling (previous owner)
I’m so sick of mudding, and it still looks a bit bumpy / wavy but we love the added ceiling height. Just put the first coat of paint on the ceiling earlier this week. The black ceiling is moody/cozy and covers a multitude of mud sins. Heavily considering refinishing the hardwood floor with the room still mostly empty.
Old houses are never square. Drywall tests the utter limits of my perfectionism. (Learned that hot mud isn’t so hot for finish work)
Ditto on being tired… But things are starting to shape up. Good luck to everyone else with their projects. Not much else to do around here with single/negative temperature. Slow and steady wins the race!
Had a hole in the roof. Patched it so it will last till summer (hopefully) so it can be replaced when it’s warmer
We’re putting hardwood in our upstairs bedrooms. I just finished the hallway and the carpeted bedrooms, I’m now procrastinating starting on the final bedroom. I’m not looking forward to scraping parquet floor and glue for hours…
I finished some painting and if I say so myself did an excellent job, so I’m happy. Doing it myself was a way cheaper and better job than the painters I hired last time I painted.
I have to replace a closet door and that’s stressing me out. I’m not sure if they discontinued my old door in my size or if I’m measuring it wrong.
I might just try repairing the old door but it’s pretty messed up.
Mid way through installing underfloor insulation. Managed to do some rewiring, adding extra sockets, replace steel water pipes and apply woodworm treatment in the process. Sadly I’m sapped of time and energy so its all slow going
learned how to rekey & finished about 9 locks so far! so far, so good!
Put together the upper cabinets for the closet after drilling shelf pin holes and sanding. Hoping to get 2 coats of primer on today with the fancy new hvlp sprayer if I can find the time while it’s light out.
Managed to get it done with a quick 220grit sanding between. Don’t mistake me for someone who knows what they’re doing.
I have to replace a garbage disposal later this week. I’m not looking forward to it, but hopefully it’s an easy project.
I can attest that it’s quite straightforward and well documented! Toughest part for me was clearing out all that crap under the sink!
I have a frustratingly low amount of time and energy lately unfortunately. But I did finally 3d print and hang my new headphone holder on the wall, so it’s something
