The May sumo tournament in Japan ended Saturday, and I was posting daily links to videos on [email protected]. According to trendingcommunities,
last March when I started doing this for the March tournament, we had 47 subscribers to start and 77 to end.
This tournament we had 83 subscribers to start and currently have 112 subscribers.
It was a pretty good experience, it gave me a reason to watch the highlight videos without feeling like I was alone in the world doing so – even tho there wasn’t much discussion, there’d be a handful of upvotes for each post showing there were at least some readers/viewers.
Last March I tried posting multiple links to youtube videos, one post per link. This got a bit confusing bc some of the videos were posted after a delay. So this tournament I just made one post like “videos for day 12 of the tournament” and put all the relevant links there, updating when the delayed ones came out. That worked a lot better. First, I was making “image” posts instead of “video” posts so I didn’t have to worry about whether the thumbnail would be automatically generated, what it would be, whether it would propagate, etc. it did mean I had to find a good image from the highlights, but that was OK I liked watching the highlight videos as described above. Second, it gave me a “template” to make posts from (I just took the previous day’s text and modified it) which was good bc I was usually doing it first thing in the morning and still kinda dazed.
Anyway, next sumo tournament’s in 2 months, and I hope I’m able to post about it again!
