    Ghost Stories

This one is an unintentional classic. My D&D group still has “Run, she’s a ghost and a bitch!” as a catchphrase for nasty monster encounters.

Oh, no. The Ghost Stories English dub was very much intentional. It was part of a package deal for ADV and were allowed to do with it as they pleased to market it.

Ehhh, I don’t see how that proves intention. Neither Fuji TV nor ADV films meant for their slapdash dubbing effort to become a cornerstone of anime comedy; in fact, that both ADV and the voice actors hired by ADV were individually given free reign pretty clearly shows lack of intent.

Did you actually watch the dub? I don’t know how you can watch the show and not see the intent. Fuji TV just said they weren’t interested in micromanaging the dubbing or marketing of the show. The script was written in the writer’s room and the voice actors were involved. Dubs, whether legit or shitposts, don’t just happen.
