          Actually he said in a relatively recent interview that his mother shielded him from the backlash. He didn’t see any of it until decades later. In the meantime he battled very serious mental health issues that were unrelated to Star Wars.

          But Star Wars fans could almost claim responsibility for the suicide of Ahmed Best. He acted the shit out of Jar Jar and only earned hate for it.

        By my grandfather’s Betamax, Star Wars (IV) does not contain a scene with Jabba the Hutt, and there’s no extra ring when the Death Star explodes, plus all the other nonsense additions.

        As a kid in the 80’s I watched the trilogy on tapes recorded OTA, and got annoyed when the fouled DVD releases started showing up.
