This is an example of folk etymology. The original word was Spanish cucaracha, but English speakers couldn’t make anything meaningful of that when they borrowed it into English, and so they folk etymologized it into cock “male chicken” and roach “a type of fish”, that sounds similar enough to cucaracha to be reasonable.
The same thing happened to Cayo Hueso “Bone Key” as “Key West”, for example.

If Mint would just implement HDR now, it would be my perfect system.
For me it’s everything but the HDR support.
We use a laptop outputting to a TV over HDMI as our main TV. That way my wife and I can watch whatever we want as usual, but also do crosswords, browse Lemmy together, etc.
The main alt I use for the family TV is on SJW. Federated with basically all of the other mainstream instances but no porn.
