A week ago on the radio, there was an interview broadcast where someone remarked “if dueling was legal, mass shooters and terrorists wouldn’t be terrorizing, they’d be dueling” which led me down a rabbit hole which led me to wanting to make something out of it as it’s now one of my fixations. Throughout history, though, it has come in many kinds, from guns to swords to jousting and, at one time, Canadian logrolling. What kind, real or fictional, is your favorite?
One that I hope will be part of history some day: wrecking ball duels. Imagine how cool it’d be to have two of those huge tower cranes swing at each other.
I also want to see train jousting. Instead of just two horses with one dude each, I want to see two passing trains with open carriages, each with hundreds of lances trying to poke the people on the other train/track.
You are a deranged monster.
Don’t ever change.
Doesn’t count: No people on board and no lances involved.
Seems like it would be more efficient to mount the lances on the fronts of the trains and only use one track.
Nah. For the same reason the best football matches don’t end in 1-1
Medieval Rap Battles? Fantastic!
There were those bars in the early 2000s with dueling pianos. Yeah, no. Definitely not those.
Slapping with white gloves
That was just the initial challenge.
Warbird dogfights.
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Deathball.
It’s been a really long time since I read “The Three Musketeers” but I loved the way they described the duels. I also love the way sword duels from that time period are portrayed in movies. Fencing is also something I enjoy watching everytime the Olympics comes around.
I was a medaled fencer years ago. I’m currently.picking it up again, and there is nothing quite like it. If there’s a local class near you, pick it up. It’s arguably the most fun combat sport there is.
