Hello, I recently tried to find some outdoor communities but they all seem quite dead. And I don’t know how to try and revive a community. Any tips?

Post there. Spread them out over days/weeks. I see too many people fill up a community in a burst making it only appear in feeds for a day.

I guess to revive a community:

      • find something to post on a regular basis. e.g. on [email protected] I post a weekly announcement about the upcoming Monsterdon movie viewing (with links and background info); LaurenceWolse posts 2-3 movie overviews a week, and there we have the basis for a moderately active sub.
      • find another couple of people to help you out by posting regularly
      • keep posting on this community’s weekly thread and getting advice/inspiration from other posters here

I wouldn’t stress about it. Communities don’t have to be active all the time. When I remember the Dunder Mifflin (fandom for tv show The Office) sub back on r$ddit, it was always active, but it was the same limited number of arguments and jokes and catch-phrases over and over. It was kinda amusing, but also kinda braindead. Why not just wait until there’s a new tour or album or other news?

I had a similar experience with [email protected]. The Japanese tournaments only happen every 2 months, so it’s dormant now… instead of trying to “force” discussion, I’m just waiting for a couple more weeks where it’ll be back to daily posting for the 15-day tournament. If I came across some awesome news or media I might post it but otherwise I’m not going to stress it.

Thanks for the insight honestly, that makes sense and I remember dunder Mifflin. If people can hang around for years for a show that old then I’m sure my community will be fine too

Would you like to create a general popculturechat community on your instance? People regularly bring up that they would like more content on that topic

Solid subscriber growth on [email protected].

Weighted engagement metrics are also slowly improving. More niche community (monitors, laptops) are doing fine considering their specialized nature and relatively low MAUs in the whole Threadiverse.

It looks like growth has plateaued at 55K MAU (solid improvement over 45K from a few months ago), but I was hoping we would be trending towards 75K-100K MAU towards the end of the year.

Let’s see. At this point it’s more about Reddit messing up than Lemmy Piefed Mbin improving

Things slowed down a bit this week but still trending upward.

    Gained 30+ Subscribers

    Gained 20+ Subscribers

    • [email protected] saw steady gains again this week. With nearly 250 subscribers the community is seeing more activity and the variety of music continues to grow. Hopefully there’s something here for everyone. If not, share what you like!

    Gained ~10 Subscribers

    • [email protected] added subscribers in the double digits for the second week running, up to almost 80 subscribers. The community is seeing a lot more activity lately thanks to some new posters sharing the series they’re following. The growth here has been rather unexpected. Thanks to those of you stopping by and a HUGE thanks to everyone posting and commenting.

    Single Digit Growth

    • [email protected] didn’t see much growth this week but as usual the trade thread was popping off and we saw plenty of other posts. Very happy with this community as a whole, now over 140 subscribers.

    • [email protected] had another slow week. Adding few new members brought the total to just over 150 subscribers this week. Since this community is meant to be somewhat impulsive and silly it may grow in bursts as the few of us who post their find the inspiration for it.
