I never stopped doing organizing work since Trump 1, during the Biden regime a lot of people went back to brunch, it was harder to find volunteers. Now they’re all back and ready to be mad at the government and do work.
hey they made an aid pier that got used to distribute a tiny amount of supplies before it got used to launch an Israeli massacre and then broke apart under its own weight
Not all of the countries problems can simply be attributed to ‘the enemy’ on the other side of the planet. The dysfunction I’m pointing out is home grown and enabled on both sides. The republicans are obviously worse, the democrats prevent anything better.
Russia is affecting those things in the us though.
People being unhoused, going hungry and without healthcare is bipartisan consensus in the US and Russia has nothing to do with that.
MS-13 or Russia
neither of those are real concerns tbh. Americans should be concerned about housing, feeding and providing medical care to everyone before worrying about external threats.
accidentally waste their time making mean comments that I can’t see
making comments people don’t see or acknowledge is one of my favorite pastimes
it’s what people used before things like discord, that and teamspeak
that external opinion is usually either bigotry or supporting US empire from my experience. Other Lemmy spaces are just as likely to ban for wrongthink ie: not being pro genocide or whatever war libs are supporting this time.
hexbear is heavily transfem and bans aggressively for misogyny/transphobia. Spending some time there when their recent domain crisis defederated from the rest of Lemmy was actually quite relaxing
My parents never got cable TV and we would always mute it reflexively if an ad came up.
was a bit strange when I went to high school and everyone had cable TV, and watched the ads! I still get a visceral reaction to advertising to this day
I just saw the finale of severance, as an office worker I loved it.
If I react to a message with a 👍 it’s innocuous, but if I reply to a message 👍 it’s actually me being passive aggressive like I can’t be bothered to type a real response
I would point out that the system we live in now is also maintained by violence and a lot of bloodshed, all alternatives are aggressively opposed, many people live in awful conditions already, and more often they tend to be the people on receiving end of US weapon systems. The actual death toll of capitalism is extremely high if you include social murder and neglect too.
Trueanon, if I ever make a manifesto I’m mentioning them in it
I run into this being ace spec, in college I even had friends trying (successfully) to set me up with dates and they never went anywhere because it was never something I cared enough about to prioritize.
I don’t really find myself sexually attracted to anyone, but having an emotional connection makes a big difference in wanting a romantic relationship for me.
meme is a little dated now I don’t think any reasonable person would pick option 1
I’m holding up well in spite of everything. I lost one of my friends this week. She had moved into what I thought was going to be a safe situation several states away and something clearly went wrong. She was a really smart and inspiring person.
I also just took another friend to the airport so she could permanently relocate to Europe, and two of my other friends are leaving soon too.
It’s been a rough week but I’m not planning on leaving, mostly working on organizing the trans people who stay.
