I plan to get a few. I want to do rain water collection for plant irrigation.
Also, if I can, I’d like to make one into a taiko drum.
I own one. Technically it is an old clothing dryer but it’s wood and has iron hoops and is cylindrical.

Yes, I own a full sized (200 liter / 53 gallon) ex-whiskey barrel that I repurposed into a rain water butt (shut the fuck up).
I bought it off of a local buy-and-sell website for I think €60 and bought a kit to channel rain water from my downspout into it. I then installed a brass spout on the side near the bottom as a tap. I can fill a watering can and water my raised bed plants with it even in droughts when watering plants with the hose is forbidden

The metal barrel might be more suited for acids depending on what metal it is. Plus bare metal is naturally anti microbial which will help avoid some possible risks with handling corpses
But I suppose if you’re going to leave the body in the it and waste the whole perfectly good barrel on a corpse, the plastic is likely a cheaper option

Because having the extra just means I’m disappointing two corpses at the same time.

If I found a nice looking one for free I’d take it and use it as a table, I don’t think I’d pay much for one though
